| About CSI: |
The Computer Society of India is the first and the largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6 March 1965 by a handful of computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. Its membership stands at more than 50,000 in more than 60 chapters throughout India
The object of the society is to exchange views and information and to learn and share ideas. The society also encourages and assists professionals to maintain the integrity and competence of the profession and fosters a sense of partnership amongst members. Besides the activities held at the chapters and student branches, the society also conducts periodic conferences, seminars, etc.
Membership :
Tthe membership of the society is open to all professionals involved in the field of Information Technology. The membership categories include Individual and Institutional. In the Individual member category there are five grades namely Fellow, Senior, Member, Associate and Student, whereas Institutional membership includes organizations and educational institutions.
A professional can also apply for life membership in the Society. Normally, a professional joins the society as an associate member and upgrades himself to senior member grade over a period of time. The fellowship is awarded to life members of the society based on their contribution to the Society.

CSI students chapter of Sudharsan Engineering College organized a Project Exhibition as a part of the college Decennary Celebrations. Honorable Chairman, Vice Chairman and ACO participated in the inaugural function. Dr. Gopinath Ganapathy, Director, Technical Park, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli was the chief guest of the occasion. He gave a lecture on `Semantic Web` for about one and half hours. Students from nine colleges participated in the event and more than 12 models were exhibited. Principal distributed the prizes for the winners and the function was a grand success.

Velmurugan, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Anjalai Ammal Mahalingam Engineering College, Kovilvenni delivered a talk on the topic Web Services.

Computer Soceity of India is organizing a guest lecture on WEB SERVICES on 30.07.10 from 2:00 p.m to 4:15 p.m in the Auditorium.. Mr. K. Velmurugan, Professor & Head, Department of CSE, Anjalai Ammal Mahalingam Engg. College, Kovilvenni will deliver the lecture. All the willing staff members and CSI student members are requested to make use of the lecture.
