Renewable Energy Day was celebrated on 20th August 2011 in Sudharsan Engineering College, Sathiyamangalam. The program was jointly organized by Energy Club and Department of EEE. Mr.Nisharali, President, Energy club gave the welcome address. Dr. M. Radhakrishnan, Principal inaugurated the program and delivered the presidential address. Dr. S. Palani, Dean PG studies felicitated the program and also a gave brief introduction to renewable energy in India. Mr.saran raj,A., Vice President, Energy club introduced our chief guest, Mr. S. Kannan B.E., M.B.A., Director AMSET, Trichy, Certified Energy Auditor BEE. He spoke on "How to meet power demand using renewable energy". The chief guest distributed the prizes to the students who had participated in the quiz program, poster and project presentation. Dr. M. Prabhakaran, Dean Academic, Staffs and students of EEE and Mechanical departments attended the program.

1KW Hybrid solar-wind power plant
Nowadays the availability of conventional energy sources is depleting, because of the increase in the power demand. Due to this we are facing problems such as load-shedding and also pollution of environment. To overcome these disadvantages of non-renewable energy sources, we have to upon renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, etc. for more effective output and continuous power generation. We have developed a HYBRID SYSTEM consisting of solar and wind energy sources to produce continuous power generation. In case of non availability of wind power, we can get the power from solar and vice-versa. This hybrid system also serves as an eco friendly method of power generation. The plant has been installed at a total cost of 2.6 lakhs. The project has been done by final year students of EEE as an Open Air Model to come-memorate the Decennary year.

Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy day celebration was held at Sudharsan Engineering College, Pudukkottai on 12th August 2010. Mr. A.Dhanabal, DRDA- Pudukkottai and Mr.P.Bharathy, Extension Manager TEDA, spoke on the schemes available for Renewable Energy from the Government of Tamilnadu.
Chief guest Professor Dr. B.P.Upendra Roy, The Head of EEE Department, Mookambigai College of Engineering, gave a valuable speech on RENEWABLE ENERGY IN FUTURE.

Mr.P.Raju,, General Manager, Auromira Bio Energy India Ltd., inaugurated the function. Prof.B.P.Upendra Roy, Mookambigai College of Engineering, Keeranur has consented to be the chief guest for valedictory function.
Students from various engineering colleges in various states participated in the paper presentation. S.Saranraj of Rajalakshmi engineering college has won the First Prize.Second prize was shared by K.Deepak Vijayalu, Moogambigai college of engineering and V.S. Shilpa & S.Aishwarya og PSG Tech, Coimbatore
