The Department of Electronics and communication Engineering organized a State Level Students Technical Symposium IDEA`11 on 3rd Sep 2011. Mr.Vivek ,President of IDEA`11 gave the welcome address followed by the Inaugural address of Dr.M.Radhakrishnan, Principal, Sudharsan Engineering College, Dr.S.Raghavan, Professor, ECE, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, the Chief Guest for IDEA`11, addressed the gathering with a technical lecture on MICROWAVES. Students from different colleges participated and presented their papers. Technical events such as Circuit Debugging, Quiz competition, Technical Marketing were also conducted to test the caliber of young future engineers. Mr.Naveen kumar, Secretary of IDEA`11 gave the Vote of thanks.

he Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sudharsan Engineering College initiated the `Mentor Professor Scheme` on 12-08-2011 at Einstein Hall. Professor, Dr.NC. Shiva Prakash, IISC, Bangalore had an interaction with the faculty members and students of the department and gave project ideas to the students. He visited our laboratories. Students found to be very much interested and clarified their doubts.

Sriram Kumar from NIT-TRICHY delivered a talk on "Transmission lines and Microwaves". As a part of the Decennial celebrations the Department of ECE conducted RAVE`11, National Conference on Recent Advances in VLSI and Embedded Systems, sponsored by CSIR. Dr. Sheela Berchmans, Scientist, CECRI, Karaikudi, Dr. M. Joseph, Principal, Mother Terasa Engineering College, Pudukkottai and Dr. Subadhra, Professor, ACCET, Karaikudi were the speakers and Judges for Paper Presentation. Valedictory address was given by Dr. K. Rameshwaran, Principal, J.J. College of Engg. & Tech., Trichy. Overall 15 colleges participated in the conference. The entire program was Co-ordinated by Mr. S. Ravi, AP/ECE & Mr. D. Ramesh, AP/ECE of Sudharsan Engineering College.

Wireless Electronic Notice Board The project is built around the AT89C51 micro controller from Atmel. This micro controller provides all the functionality of the display and wireless control. It also takes care of creating different display effects for given text. Matrix type display is designed using 5mm LED on a printed circuit board. A driver circuit is designed to drive all these LEDs. A simple PC key board can be connected to this system to enter the required text or notice. Several scrolling effects can be selected using function keys of keyboard. The scrolling speed of the text also can be changed according to user requirement. Zigbee protocol used here for wireless communication.It operates in unlicensed bands at the following frequencies: 2.400-2.484GHz .

As a part of the Decennial celebrations the Department of ECE conducted IDEA`11 Stae Level Technical Symposium for the students to exhibit their talents in innovation.
Dr. A. Sivanandharaja, Professor-ECE, Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering & Technology, Karaikudi was the Chief Guest and judge for Paper Presentation. The various events conducted are Paper Presentaion, Technical Marketing and Circuit Debugging in which 52 students participated from various engineering colleges and won prizes. Prizes are distributed to the winners forvarious events by the Principal of SEC. The progeam was Co-ordinated by Mrs. R. Boopathirani, AP/ECE & Mr. B.D. Deebak AP/ECE of SEC and the vote of thanks was finaly given by the President Mr. M. Sahul Hamed of final year ECE.

Boopathi Rani, AP/ECE has been awarded ISTE National award for Best Women Engineering College Teacher during the 40th ISTE National Annual Convention held at Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi on 02.12.2010. The award was presented by Dr. M. Anandakrishnan, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Kanpur. Shri. Ajay K. Sundaram, Vice Chairman/SEC, Dr. M. Radhakrishan, Principal, Dr. M. Department of ECE has purchased the tool of `Vxworks 6.8 Wind river Workbench` under the AICTE grant for MODROBS and the tool is a current Industry Standard development for Embedded real time system. It will be helpful for students to do research in Embedded Systems.
National Workshop on Communication Technology

ECE Department has organized a two days national workshop in recent trends in communication technology on 24.09.10 & 25.09.10. The workshop was conducted with six sessions, three sessions per day. The workshop was inaugurated by our Principal. The sessions covered the topics on Wireless Communication, Optical Communication, OPNET, Grid Computing and Research & Developments in Communication. About 70 participants from various institutions actively participated in the workshop. At the end of second day participation certificates were issued by our Principal at the valedictory function.
