It came into existence in 1920 and was granted the Royal Chapter in 1935.There are 94 centres spread through out of India and 6 chapters abroad with its headquarters at Kolkata.It has an object of promoting and advancing the art, science and practice of engineering in India. It plays qualitative and quantitative strength of professional man power. The Institution is today the largest professional society of engineers in India, having a membership of 7 lakhs personnel of various disciplines.
Institute of Engineers (India) Student Chapter Activities:
1. Once in a month the committee Meeting is conducted to check the queries and alterations.
2 Organizing Lecturers / Technical Demonstration / Mode / Competition / Poster Competition.
3. Organizing Seminar by experts from Industry ,R&D Organizations ,Government Departments and other institution.
4. Organizing Group Discussion and Technical Quiz .
5. Conducting Film Shows / Display of Technical Information .

IE Chapter Decennary Celebration Report

As a part of the Decennary year celebrations, Institution of Engineers(India) chapter of the college organized a one day workshop on `Research Methodology` on 10th Feb 2011 for Faculties and PG students.The programme was inaugurated by Dr.K.Rukamni, Director, Research, Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, with the blessing of our honorable Chairman Shri.V.K.Sundaram, Vice Chairman and Principal Dr.M.Radhakrishnan. The welcome address was given by Mrs. P. Parvathi secretary of IEI chapter. The resource persons Dr. R. Krishnamoorthy, Dean Adminstration & Chairman of Information & Communication Engineering, Anna University, Tiruchirappalli and Dr. V. Anantha Krishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Production Engineering, NIT, Thiruchirappalli spoke on the research methodology concepts and share their valuable experience in research.
