The Department of Information Technology of Sudharsan Engineering College organized a Refresher programme titled "PERVASIVE COMPUTING"on 23.12.2011. Dr.A.Vadivel, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli was the Chief Guest for programme Mr.V.Karthikeyan, HoD/IT gave the welcome address followed by the Inaugural address by Dr.M.Radhakrishnan, Principal, Sudharsan Engineering College.The seminar covered the recent topics Mobile Computing, Grid Computing. Mr.K.Karthikannan, AP/IT of Sudharsan Engineering college delivered a lecture on Fundamentals of Pervasive Computing.

Department of IT is going to conduct a one day refresher programme on FUNDAMENTALS OF PERVASIVE COMPUTING on 23.12.11 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Dr.A.Vadivel, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology; Tiruchirappalli will be the resource person.

P. Arockia Mary, AP, Department of Information Technology attended a one day workshop on Research Methodologies in Computer Science, Information Technology and Engineering on 29/11/2011 at Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.Out of the four sessions the two sessions which was handled by Dr. (Mrs.) S. Raju, RF SYSTEMS LAB, TARC, TCE, Madurai was very useful and inspiring for research beginners. She delt with the challenges faced by a researcher. The challenges she listed are: getting a guide, course menace, eco-pressure, publication nightmares, thesis writing drudgery and viva examination. Another session was taken by Dr. N. Jawahar, Professor, of Mech. Engg., & Dean (R&D), Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai. He focused on the referee`s expectations in research reports and gave guidelines for journal article/thesis preparation.

The Department of Information Technology organized a Refresher program on 28^th June 2011. Mr.V.Karthikeyan, HOD/IT gave the welcome address followed by the Inaugural address of Dr.M.Radhakrishnan, Principal,  Dr.A.Vadivel, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, the expert speaker for Refresher program, addressed the gathering with a technical lecture on `MIDDLEWARE TECHNOLOGY`. The seminar covered the recent topic CORBA. Ms.P.Subashree (Lecturer/IT) delivered a lecture on Database server.

The Department of IT inaugurated its Student Technical Association (INFOBLAZE`2010) on 13-08-2010 at Seminar Hall (Hall No.313).  Dr.P. Ilango, Professor & Division Leader, School of Computing Science & Engineering, VIT University, Vellore released IT Magazine and delivered a lecture on `Data Mining`.

The students of final year Information technology V.Yogesh & V.Manikandan won second prize for the project presentation in the National Level Technical Symposium conducted by Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology, Vellore on the topic Electronic Referendum bestel for Sightless Mensen.

Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology sanctioned a sum of Rs.6000 for the project "Automization of irrigation system for social modernization of Indian Agricultural System" under the guidance of Mr.V.Karthikeyan, HoD/IT. The project will be implemented by the final year students N.Nagalakshmi & B.Vasuki of Information Technology.

The Department of Information Technology of Sudharsan Engineering College organized a State Level Students Technical Symposium INFOBLAZE`11 on 15th Feb 2011. Mr.V.Karthikeyan, HOD/IT gave the welcome address followed by the Inaugural address of Dr.M.Radhakrishnan, Principal, Sudharsan Engineering College, Dr.A.Vadivel, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, the Chief Guest for INFOBLAZE`11, addressed the gathering with a technical lecture on Pervasive Computing. Students from different colleges participated and presented their papers. Technical events such as Code Debugging, Quiz competition, Personality Identification were also conducted for the participants and prizes were distributed.

The Department of IT organized a software training program on 01-12-2010 (Wednesday) at SONA IT CENTRE (IT LAB 3) for Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members of IT Department of our college. Mr.V.Karthikeyan, HOD / IT inaugurated the session with welcome address. Mr.Balachandran, Software Trainer, KKM Soft. Pvt. Ltd, Chennai, gave demo and basic training in AutoCAD, and 3D MAX.

The Department of IT has organized and celebrated the Engineers day on 15th Sep, 2010 at Seminar hall from 10:00a.m to 1:00 p.m. On this occasion various events such as  Paper Presentation and Multimedia Presentation were conducted for the students. Dr. M. RADHAKRISHNAN, the Principal presided over the function. The judges Mr.V.Karthikeyan HODIT and Ms.R.Revathy- AP/IT (Engineer`s Day Co.ordinator) the appreciated the performance of the participants. Also, they distributed the prizes to the best three winners of Paper Presentation, Two Winners of Multimedia Presentation of the competition and Toppers for last semester students of Final year and Third year IT.

The Inaugural function of the Information Technology Students Technical Association for this academic year 2010-2011 will be held on 13 August, 2010 at 10.00am in the

Sona Building. Dr. P. Ilango Ph.D., VIT University, Vellore is to inaugurate and deliver the inaugural address and Dr. M. Radhakrishnan, Principal, Sudharsan Engineering College will preside over the function. Dr. M. Prabakar, ACO will offer felicitations.

Departments of MCA and IT  are jointly organizing a guest lecture on Mobile Ad-hoc Networks on 11^th Aug `10 from 10:15am to  01:00 p.m in the Old Seminar Hall. Mr. N. Vetrivelan, Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Periyar Maniammai University, Thanjavur will deliver the lecture.
