Project 1: Performance Enhancement of Indoor Solar Air Drier

Indoor drying is a process of drying fruits, nuts and grains. In this project, the solar heater is introduced and improved the speed of the indoor drying process. This will reduce the time of drying process. In this project automation has been tried thro belt mechanism. 

Project 2: Effective solar desalination

In this project, the solar heat is used to improve the condensation rate. The evaporation and condensation units are separated and swiping method is introduced to improve the condensation rate. This project is useful to improve the water quality without electrical power. This will help the village people to get purified water with zero cost.

Project 3: Drop wise condensation with Nano Technology in Thermal Power Plant

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized inter college students technical symposium MESS2011 on 17/02/2011. The chief guest Dr.A.Noorul Haq, Professor, NIT Trichy released the MESTA News Letter and given the inaugural address. The paper presentation session I & II were headed by the judges Dr. K.R. Balasubramanian, Assistant Professor, NIT, Trichy and Prof. A. Mahamani, Head/Mechanical, SEC. Technical quiz and design contest were also conducted to test the caliber of young future engineers. After certificate distribution Dr. K.R. Balasubramanian gave valedictory . Vote of thanks was given by Mr.Pandiyanathan, final year Mechanical student.

Prof.A.Mahamani, Department of Mechanical Engineering, has received a Best 
Research Paper Award in an International Conference on Frontiers in Automobile 
and Mechanical Engineering –FAME 2010 held on 25-27 November 2010 at 
Satyabama University, Chennai. He was honored with a trophy, Rs 1000 cash and 
certificate for the excellence for his achievement.

A guest lecture on Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) was conducted for students of Mechanical Engineering Department by an eminent resource person Dr.Ramkumar, Assistant Professor, IIT- Kanpur on 15.10.10 at Old Seminar Hall. This program will help the students to enhance the knowledge on the topic EDM.

The Mechanical Engineering Department and MESTA has organized and conducted Engineers day celebration on 15^th September 2010 at Seminar hall, from 9.30am to 4.00pm. Dr.M.Radhakrishnan, Principal was introduced as role model for students and staff. He praised the achievers and motivated the students. The senior faculty members of Mechanical Department gave talk on their respective specialization as a knowledge transfer to the upcoming Mechanical Engineering students. The department students participated in the technical quiz competition and model exhibition. The winners of these competitions were honored with certificate and prize. The valediction and vote of thanks were given by Prof.A.Kumaravadivel, HOD/Mechanical.

N. Sriram Kumar from IV-year Mechanical Engineering won the first prize in National Level Technical Symposium Mechanovation-2010 held in Shanmuganathan Engineering college, Pudukkottai on 8-9 September 2010. He also won the second prize in Prototype design contest in the same college.We congratulate his effort and performance. We wish him all success in his future attempts.
