A National level Technical Symposium "Infoblaze’12" on Emerging Trends in IT is organised by the department of Information Technology, Sudharsan Engineering College on 23rd February 2012.

A National Workshop on ‘Writing a Research Paper’ was organized by Sudharsan Engineering College on January 21, 2012 for research scholars in engineering colleges. The main objective of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for research scholars and academicians to understand the methodology to express their research ideas and concepts and help draft a paper for publication. The welcome address was given by the Principal Dr. M. Radhakrishnan, Sudharsan Engineering College. The Inaugural session was presided by Shri. V. K. Sundaram, Chairman, Shri. Ajay V. K. Sundaram, Vice Chairman, Sudharsan Group of Institutions. Dr. S. Palani, Dean PG Studies, Sudharsan Engineering College gave important tips on writing a research paper. Welcome address and introduction about the guest speakers was given by Dr. K. Krishnamoorthy, HOD/ CSE, Sudharsan Engineering College. Academicians and research scholars from various colleges participated in the workshop.

In the Technical session Dr. S. Raju, HOD/ECE, Thiagarajar College of Engineering explained the methodology for successful paper writing. Dr. K. Sundareswaran, Professor, ECE, NIT Trichy, gave valuable ideas on publishing papers in conferences and journals. In the practical session, all the participants were tutored to write their paper. Valedictory speech was given by Dr. S. Suppiah, Principal, PSYEC, Sivagangai. He distributed the participation certificates to all the participants. Dr. M. Prabhakar, Dean, Academics, Sudharsan Engineering College, gave vote of thanks.

Under the auspices of NSS Units 1 and 2 a General Orientation programme was conducted for the benefit of I Yr Students. Prof.P.Mani, Department of Physics, Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirapalli was the Chief Guest of the Occasion.In his address, he touched upon various issues ranging from objectives of NSS, the role of NSS Volunteers in community development, Team work, Character building, the various activities that shall be conducted under regular activity and special camp contingency measures to be adopted in times of global warming, climate change, water scarcity and biodiversity. He also laid emphasis on the use of traditional knowledge. He shared his experience about his observations on the deteriorating quality of the environment and said that youth and environment are the two components which are complementary as far as the role of the NSS is concerned. A number of interesting and motivating videos were shown to the fresher’s to inspire them.

The English Club of Sudharsan Engineering College organized an Oratorical Contest on the following topics "Is Globalization really necessary? And "English for Employability". Many students enthusiastically participated in the screening test. Among those ten were selected for the final round. The participants were judged by the eminent panel of Judges Mr. N. Parameswaran/AP and Mrs. B. Eunice Romola/AP of Department of English. The judges appreciated the performance of the participants and distributed prizes for the best three orators.

Mrs. V. Jayalakshmi AP, MCA attended a 2 – days workshop on Simulation of Advanced Networks using NS-2(WSAN’ 11) on 2^{nd -3rd December 2011. The workshop mainly emphasized on the simulation of advanced networks such as WiMAX and Wireless Sensor Networks using ns-2. Experts from Anna University and SAT Infosys handled the theoretical and practical Session of the Training.}
