National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS was launched in the Gandhiji Centenary year, 1969, and is aimed at developing students personality through community service. The overall objective of the National Service is educational. This objective is attained through the service to the community.
NSS is a permanent youth programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and funded by Government of TamilNadu and Government of India in the ratio 5:7.
The activities of NSS mainly focused on Technology transfer to rural mass and help the rural youth for creating job opportunity by conducting different types of training programmes
The overall objective of NSS is Personality Development through Community Service. The motto or watchword of the NSS is 'Not Me But You'. This reflects selfless service and appreciation of the other person's point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual which is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole.
In today's global context, language plays an important role and therefore the intention of the club of the college is to make students realize the dire need to learn language by making use of the modern technologies.
The programme is to create awareness among students to understand their communicative abilities and put them in to practice.
A quiz club has been started in our college. The club will be functioning to enthuse our students to acquire skills to participate in quiz competitions. This is a very much competitive world. The students are expected to possess wide knowledge in all the fields from science to politics and so on.
Each department in the college forms its own Technical Association to enhance the professional competence of its students. The associations organize activities like lectures by distinguished industrialists, academicians, and practitioners of the profession, video shows, competitions and socially relevant projects for the students throughout the year.
Maths club was started in 2009 and has been progressing very well as an intellectual stimulator to the students of Sudharsan Engineering College.
It came into existence in 1920 and was granted the Royal Chapter in 1935.There are 94 centres spread through out of India and 6 chapters abroad with its headquarters at Kolkata.It has an object of promoting and advancing the art, science and practice of engineering in India. It plays qualitative and quantitative strength of professional man power. The Institution is today the largest professional society of engineers in India, having a membership of 7 lakhs personnel of various disciplines.
Institute of Engineers (India) Student Chapter Activities:
The Computer Society of India is the first and the largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6 March 1965 by a handful of computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. Its membership stands at more than 50,000 in more than 60 chapters throughout India The object of the society is to exchange views and information and to learn and share ideas. The society also encourages and assists professionals to maintain the integrity and competence of the profession and fosters a sense of partnership amongst members. Besides the activities held at the chapters and student branches, the society also conducts periodic conferences, seminars, etc.
The membership of the society is open to all professionals involved in the field of Information Technology. The membership categories include Individual and Institutional. In the Individual member category there are five grades namely Fellow, Senior, Member, Associate and Student, whereas Institutional membership includes organizations and educational institutions.
A professional can also apply for life membership in the Society. Normally, a professional joins the society as an associate member and upgrades himself to senior member grade over a period of time. The fellowship is awarded to life members of the society based on their contribution to the Society.
Energy cell was formed and established in the year 2007.
